Questions about the driveway calculator
- Can I hire you off the calculator number?
- Use it to set a budget. We firm up the price after we see the lot, because dirt work, the reach for the concrete truck, the steel and any drainage fixes all change the cost.
- How many yards of concrete does a driveway take?
- Multiply length, width and thickness in feet, then divide by 27. A 40 by 18 foot driveway poured 5 inches thick needs about 11.1 cubic yards, plus a little extra we order to cover spillage and soft spots in the base.
- Why is a small pour so expensive per foot?
- We bring the same truck, crew and forms to a 60 square foot patch as to a 600 square foot driveway. That is why short extensions and single approach panels tend to land near our job minimum.
- Does the price cover removing my old driveway?
- Check the tear-out box to add it. Demolition and haul-off of an old driveway runs about $1 to $4 per square foot, toward the top of that range when the old concrete is thick or heavy with steel.
